Lowrey, J.A., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1812 Able Seaman James Armour Lowrey, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

James was born on 11th September 1884. He was working as a transport labourer living with his wife, Annie at 8, Gibson Street, Newcastle upon Tyne when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 16th November 1914.

James joined the 4th Platoon, "D" Company of the Collingwood Battalion on 4th March 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 4th June 1915.

James Armour Lowrey is remembered in Byker on B95.24 and in Newcastle on NUT045
