On Plymouth Naval Memorial is the name of D/JX 191160 Able Seaman James Convery serving with the Royal Navy who died 13/02/1942.

In Newcastle upon Tyne (West Road) Cemetery is a headstone which reads:

?Jesus Mary . . . . . . the souls of
Sarah E. Convery
Died 13th Jan. 1963 aged 73 years
Also James
Son of the above
K.O.A.S. 13th Feb. 1942 aged 22.

This stone is not easy to read from the photo.

“K.O.A.S.” presumably stands for “Killed on active service”

He is remembered in Newcastle on NUT162 and on our List of Ships’ crews
