In Newcastle upon Tyne (All Saints) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 1146465 Aircraftman 2nd Class James Hedley Nicholson, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 31/12/1941.

The headstone reads:

I.H.S.
Of your charity
Pray for the repose of the soul of
James Hedley Nicholson R.A.F.
the dearly beloved son of
Samuel & Margaret Nicholson
Who died Dec. 31st 1941, in his 21st Year.
Also the above
Samuel
Who died Feb. 28th 1967, aged 73 years.
