In Newcastle upon Tyne (All Saints) Cemetery is a broken headstone which reads:

In
loving memory
Lieut. Joseph Edmund Lowe
23rd N.F.
who died February 12th 1919
aged 29 years.
Also Beatrice, his beloved wife
and daughter of the late
John and Jane Armstrong
who died February 16th 1919 aged 27 years
Thy will be done.

Christine Davison has supplied the following:

His name was Joseph Edmund Lowe of Crowtree House, East Boldon and is mentioned on their War Memorial.

His parents were Joseph and Elizabeth Lowe. He married Beatrice Armstrong and they had a son Barclay born in 1918.

Joseph was caught in an explosion at Messines in 1917 and had his heart displaced. He then became a supervisory officer for The Navy and Army Canteen Board. He contracted Influenza and died. His wife died a few days later.

Joseph Edmund Lowe is remembered in East Boldon on E46.01 and E46.02
