On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/168 Petty Officer William Lambert Crone, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 19/06/1915.

In Newcastle upon Tyne (All Saints) Cemetery is a headstone which reads:

Mary Ellen Crone
the dearly beloved wife of
John Crone
who departed this life June 25th 1907
aged 44 years
Also of their dearly beloved only daughter
Catherine Forster Crone
who departed this life May 6th 1915
in her 20th year.
Also of their dearly beloved only son
William Lambert Crone
Petty Officer “Hawke” Battalion
Royal Naval Division
killed in action at Cape Helles, near
the Dardanelles, June 19th 1915
in his 22nd year.
The above
John Crone
and beloved husband of
Elizabeth Ann Crone
died January 1917
aged 55 years.
