Coroner's Court Report number 271:

Frederick George Woodward aged about 21 years. Pte (Number not known) of the 2/7th West Riding Regiment. Resided at Loydale, Blythe Road, Rotherham. Found dead in the River Tyne opposite Messrs Spillers & Bakers Flour Mills at 6.30am on the 19th.

The Coroner's court report 20th May 1916 quotes:

Deceased was found in the River Tyne apparently having accidentally fallen into the River Tyne from the Newcastle Fish Quay on Saturday 1st January 1916, and was drowned.
