In the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord is the Commonwealth War Grave of 32162 Private Henry John Jones, serving with the 21st Battalion, (2nd Tyneside Scottish) the Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 13/01/1917.

Henry John Jones was born on the 1st August 1884, at Pontithel, Brecon, the second son of John Jones, and his wife Mary Ann, daughter of David Prosser. A chemical worker at Hereford.

Henry was educated at Glasbury School, and became an officer in the Poor Law Institute. He married at Leatherhead on the 2nd June 1909, Mabel Keturah, 50 Preston Road, North Shields, Northumberland, daughter of William Henry Millyard of Eastleigh, Granville Street, Leamington.

They had a son called Leslie Victor Cecil, born 1st April 1912.

Henry enlisted on the 21st June 1916, and served in France and Flanders from the 8th December.

He died on the 13th January 1917 at the No 8 Casualty Clearing Station, [located at Bailleul, from January 1915 to the 4th March 1917], from wounds received at Bailleul. Buried at Bailleul.
