27th October 1918.

Royal Victoria Infirmary Coroner's report No. 453 dated 28th October 1918:

"George Thorley aged 42 yrs Driver No T/275594, 530 Co. A.S.C., Presbyterian Church Hall, 2 Burdon Terrace. Found Dead in the Presbyterian Church Hall at 7am on 27th October 1918, Sister's address 113 Clarence Road Derby.

Adjd to R.V.I. 5.30pm 6th November 1918.

Deceased died from Asphyxia due to Carbon Monoxide Poisoning which had escaped from a Boiler fire in a cellar below and forced its way through the floor into the room in which he was sleeping a short time previous."[sic]
