Newcastle Daily Chronicle 02/03/1916 reports:

“Military Wedding at Heaton.

Yesterday, at the Heaton Presbyterian Church, Miss Helen Weatherston, daughter of the Rev. W. and Mrs. Weatherston, of Jesmond, was quietly married to Captain John W. Dodds, of the Army Cyclists’ Corps, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Dodds, of Kelso. The Rev. J.H. Maconachie, of Trinity Church, Newcastle, conducted the ceremony, and was assisted by the Rev. W. Weatherston, father of the bride. Miss Lilian Weatherston, the bride’s sister, was the bridesmaid, and Mr. William Weatherston, the brother, acted as best man. Only the relatives of the bride and bridegroom were present at the marriage, and the newly married couple afterwards left for a short honeymoon.”
