In Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2387 Rifleman James Neal Calvert serving with the London Rifle Brigade, who died 24/07/1916.

In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
John Calvert
died 8th Dec. 1875, aged 72
also of Jane, his wife
died 18th March 1878
“The memory of the just is blessed”
and of their son
James Taylor Calvert
(of Sunderland)
Died 15th Dec. 1909, aged 60
and youngest daughter
Frances
died 15th Dec. 1919.
Also in loving memory of
James Neal Calvert
(London Rifle Brigade)
who died of wounds in France
24th July1916, aged 19
and of
Wallace Melvin Calvert
(Imperial Camel Corps), killed in action, Palestine
1st May 1918, aged 27
only sons of
James Taylor and Annie Calvert
and the above Annie Calvert
died February 10th, 1950, aged 88.

James Neal was born at Sunderland in the first quarter of 1897. According to the 1911 Census he lived in Blackpool. He enlisted in London and served with 5th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment and died of wounds.

His younger brother Wallace Melvyn Calvert also fell.
