Robert Henry was born in Carlisle, Cumberland on 3rd February 1890. He married Margaret Shepherd at Newcastle upon Tyne on 25th December 1908 and they lived at 13 Moor View Crescent, Newcastle. Sadly Margaret died on 20th May 1918, while Robert was serving with the R.A.M.C. He was remarried in 1919 to Georgina Gregson.

Robert served with the 10th (HD) Battalion and was formerly 7576, Private, Northumberland Fusiliers and 1954, Private, Royal Army Medical Corps.
