In Newcastle (St John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

D. Brebner
Stoker 1st Cl. RN.K/26494
H.M.S. “Viking”
3rd February 1918, age 24.

David was born at Newcastle upon Tyne on 21st September 1894, the son of William and the late Louisa Ann of 28 Tyneside Terrace, Newcastle.

According to the 1911 Census he was employed as a joiner’s labourer.

He died at sea.

H.M.S. Viking was built by Palmer’s of Jarrow and was launched in September 1909, eventually being sold for scrap in 1919.
