In Newcastle (St John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

2347 Private
T. Biggar
Northumberland Fusiliers
6th August 1915.

John James was born in the second quarter of 1889 to Robert and Mary Ann of 21 Victoria Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.

According to the 1911 Census he was employed as a ‘shunter’ with the Railway Company and also worked at Blaydon Station as a porter.

He served with ‘C’ Coy 6th Battalion and was severely wounded in the left thigh on 11 July 1915 and thereafter was transferred to Dickebusch.

The discrepancy in the initials of the first name is being queried with CWGC who require documentary evidence.
