Yorkshire Regiment
30th November 1918, age 31.

Walter Charles was born in Middlesbrough in 1887, the son of Annie and the late William.

He enlisted at Richmond on 24th August 1914 and served with the 7th Battalion. At the time of enlisting he was recorded as a labourer, living at 23 Croft Street, Newport, Middlesbrough. He lost his right arm just below the elbow due to gunshot wounds and was discharged on 7th February 1917 due to being unfit for war service.

Walter Charles married Annie Gill at Bicker, near Boston, Lincolnshire on 12th June 1915 and they lived at Swineshead, near Boston. They had a daughter, Lillian Annie, who was born on 7th October 1916 at Kirton, near Boston.
