Herbert was born on 28th December 1904, the son of George and Elizabeth. He married Margaret C. (nee Dodds) in the first quarter of 1933 at Newcastle upon Tyne and they lived at 22 Panmure Street, Elswick.
Herbert died at home as the result of an accident and is listed on the Army Roll of Honour.
