On Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial is the name of 63888 Private William Vickers serving with the Canadian Infantry, who died 09/07/1916.

In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Isabella
dearly beloved wife of George Vickers
who died April 26th, 1921,
aged 65 years.
The above George Vickers
died Aug.18th 1924, aged 71 years,
also their third son
Pte Wm. Vickers, 4th Batt. 1st Canadian Div.
who fell in action near Ypres
July 9th 1916, aged 26 years.
William was born in the fourth quarter of 1889 at Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of George and Isabella (nee Gray) of 30 Hamilton Street, Newcastle. He was baptised at Elswick on 23rd October 1889.

William served with the 4th Battalion, 1st Central Ontario Regiment.
