F. Usher
Northumberland Fusiliers
18th April 1920, age 52.

Even so father.

Foster was born in 1868 at Sunderland, the son of Foster and Isabella of Sunderland and the husband of Elizabeth of 18 Penn Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.

He enlisted at Newcastle with the 20th (Northern Battalion) Rifle Brigade on 4th September 1914 and saw active service in Egypt, between 1916 and 1917. Foster was transferred to the 25th London Battalion on 18th September 1917 and discharged on 24th October 1917, as ‘unfit and debilitated of age’, enabling him to return to his employment with the North Eastern Railway, as Goods Guard.
