In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with private headstone of 71768 Private John Dixon Story serving with the Canadian Infantry, who died 10/06/1919.

The family headstone reads:

who died December 4th, 1887
aged 7 years.
John Dixon, second son
who died June 10, 1919
aged 33 years.
who died March 18th, 1921
in his 71st year

who died August 16th, 1939
in her 86th year.

John was born in the second quarter of 1886 at Newcastle upon Tyne.

He formerly served as Sapper 230 with the Royal Engineers – Northumberland Division, enlisting on 14 April 1908 for a two years’ service.

At the time of his service he was employed as a draughtsman with Emley & Sons, Orchard Street, Newcastle and lived at 42 Hanley Terrace, Gosforth. John re-enlisted on 6 April 1916.
