G.W. Ross
Royal Field Artillery
5th August 1920, age 26.

George William was born at Newcastle upon Tyne in the fourth quarter of 1894, the son of Finlay and Jemimah (nee Mercer). He married Sarah Margaret (nee McClarance) in the fourth quarter of 1913 at Newcastle and they had one son. The family were living at 27 Mitford Street, Elswick.

George enlisted on 2 September 1914 with the Depot Battalion before transferring to 169th Battery. He was discharged on 21 November 1914 as being medically unfit and unlikely to make an efficient soldier, under King’s Regulations, Para 392, iii.
