Stephens, W., Sgt., 1945
In Reichswald Forest War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1590766 Sergeant William Stephens, serving with the Royal Sir Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 09/02/1945.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt Stephens was the rear gunner of Avro Lancaster I HK650 AP-T of 186 Squadron, which was lost on a mission to bomb the Hohenbudberg railway yards at Krefeld. The Lancaster exploded after being hit by flak, and debris was scattered over a large area of Schwafheim, just north of the target area. All seven crew were killed.

Also killed in the same incident was Sgt. D. McB. Crowe
