In Catania War Cemetery, Sicily is the Commonwealth War Grave of 53898 Major William Robinson, M.D., serving with the Durham Light Infantry, who died 23/07/1943.

In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In
loving memory of
my dear husband
Benjamin Joseph Robinson
who passed away 7th July 1920,
aged 51 years,
also of his wife
Margaret Jane
died 1st June 1946, aged 75 years.
Lavinia their daughter
died 15th March 1940, aged 39 years,
William their son
who fell in action in Sicily
23rd July 1943, aged 37 years.

William was born at Newcastle upon Tyne in 1906, the son of Margaret Jane and the late Benjamin Joseph. He was the husband of Mary Chambers Robinson (nee Gray) whom he married in the third quarter of 1934 at Newcastle.

Prior to enlisting William had gained a Bachelor of Science degree.

He enlisted with the 9th Battalion and was Mentioned in Dispatches. William is commemorated on the Army Roll of Honour and is interred at the Catania War Cemetery, Sicily (Row 3, Plot D27).
