Air Gunner
Royal Air Force
19th July 1945, age 29.

In God’s own garden
now at rest
peacefully sleeping
he’s one of the best.

James William was born at Newcastle upon Tyne on 4th November 1915, the son of Elizabeth Alice of Elswick.

James was the husband of Gladys Mary (nee Cotham) whom he married at Newcastle in the fourth quarter of 1936. According to the 1939 Register they were living at 29 Swinley Gardens, Benwell, where James was employed as an engineer’s fitter – armaments.
