Michael Rispin
18th Hussars
27th January 1920.

R.I.P.

Michael was born at Newcastle upon Tyne on 10th May 1891, the son of Laurence and Catherine (nee Sharkey).

According to the 1911 Census, Michael was at Hawkesyard Priory, Rugeley, Staffordshire (a Dominican Priory) where he was listed as a ‘lay brother’.

Michael enlisted on 8th September 1914 with the 18th (Queen Mary’s Own) Hussars but was later transferred to the Labour Corps (443764, Private).

He was discharged on 21st July 1918 under King’s Regulation Para.392 (xvi, a, i), Sickness and was awarded the Silver War Badge. He died at home from Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
