In Feuchy Chapel British Cemetery, Wancourt is the Commonwealth War Grave of 32932 Driver John George Nichol Nesbit serving with the Royal Field Artillery, who died 23/04/1917.

In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
our brothers
Leslie Nesbit
died 16th June 1935, aged 19 years
Adam Nesbit R.N.D.
died of wounds, 20th Feb.1917
aged 22 years
John George Nichol Nesbit R.F.A.
killed in action, 23rd April 1917
aged 21 years
Catherine Mary Nesbit
mother of the above
died 9th June 1956, aged 79 years.

John George was born on 18th December 1895, the son of John and Catherine of 51 Matilda Street, Elswick.

John George enlisted at Newcastle upon Tyne with ‘A’ Battery, 70th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery.
