J.A. McArthur
Tyneside Scottish N.F.
7th October 1919, age 42.

John Alexander was born in 1876 at West Calder, Scotland, the son of John and Mary of West Calder. He was the husband of Eliza (nee Hill) whom he married in the fourth quarter of 1903 at Newcastle upon Tyne and lived at 113 Maughan Street, Benwell, with his two daughters and six step-children.

John served with the 21st Battalion (2nd Tyneside Scottish) and was transferred to the 23rd Battalion where he was recorded as a Prisoner of War, before finally being transferred to Class Z, Army Reserve. He died at home.
