Robert Hugh was born on 27th November 1886, the son of William and Bridget Livingstone of Newcastle upon Tyne. He married Annie Balmbro in the fourth quarter of 1916 at Newcastle. According to the 1939 Register they were living at Kirkee, Thornaby Green, Yorkshire where Robert’s occupation was listed as “unemployed aircraft rigger.”
