In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Jane Ann Laidler
the beloved wife of
John B Laidler,
who died 19th January 1905,
aged 50 years,
also of Catherine Fordy
their daughter
who died 18th August 1903
aged 9 years.
Gunner Andrew F Laidler, R.F.A.
killed in action in France
April 28th 1917, aged 20 years,
also John Bainbridge Laidler
husband of the above
Jane Ann Laidler
who died 29th Jan.1933
aged 76 years.
Andrew was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of John and the late Jane, 73 Richard Street, Elswick. He enlisted in Newcastle and served with ‘C’ Battery, 50th Brigade. The 1911 Census records him as an Errand Boy. Andrew is interred at Athies Communal Cemetery Extension, Arras, France (Row E, 13).
