aged 41 years

John James was the husband of Mary J, 40 Sycamore Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.

He served with 9th Depot Battalion and enlisted on 4th December 1915. He received a gunshot wound (Regulation 392 xvi) to his right arm on 24th March 1918 and was then transferred to the Amputation Hospital on 15th April 1918, where the arm was amputated just above middle of upper arm. He was then sent to the Edinburgh War Hospital and was discharged from the services on 7th June 1919. His Silver War Badge was received on 1st November 1919.
