In Newcastle (St John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

291913 Private
W. Greenwell
Northumberland Fusiliers
15th September 1920.

Walter was the husband of Isabella, 18 Boat House, South Benwell.

He originally served with the 1/7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and was then transferred to the 4th, 12/13th and eventually the Depot Battalion. He was wounded on 26th September 1918 and was admitted for treatment for a gunshot wound (Regulation ix) for a period of 14 days before his eventual release back to the Depot Battalion.
