Ernest was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of Thomas Albert and the late Norah of 2 Crown Street. He died as the result of an accident and his obituary appeared in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, Saturday, 09/01/1943, stating that he was to be interred at Elswick at 2.15pm in a private service on the following Monday.
He is listed on the Army Roll of Honour, 1939-45.
