LAWSON, Frederick Henry
Capt., 5th Battn. Northumberland Fusiliers (T.F.), eldest son of Frederick Lawson, of Dalton, Northumberland, late of Nelthorpe, Gosforth, Merchant, and his wife, Eleoner Francis [sic], daughter of the late John Walker; born Newcastle-on-Tyne, 23 July, 1887; educated Durham Grammar School; served his articles with Messrs. Newcomb and Newcomb, Architects, of Newcastle, and was afterwards with Mr. Arthur Stockwell, of that City; joined the Northumberland Yeomanry in 1907; gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, 5th Northumberland Fusiliers, 15 May 1909; promoted Lieutenant 17 July 1910, and Captain 1 Nov. 1912; volunteered for Imperial Service on the outbreak of war; went to France, 13 April 1915; and was killed in action at St. Jean, near Ypres, 24 May following; unmarried. His Colonel wrote: "Capt. Lawson was one of my best officers, thoroughly capable and reliable."
