Thomas Walton was the son of William Walton, of 2 South Cross Street, Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne was born at Alston, co Cumberland, on the 1st April 1884.

He was educated at Coxlodge School, near Gosforth.

He enlisted on the 1st September 1914, and served with the British Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders.

He died on the 4th October 1915 from wounds sustained in action from the Battle of Loos. He died in Frensham Military Hospital, Farnham on the 4th October from his wounds received on the 25th September previously.
