In Wallsend (Holy Cross) cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of P/MX 98330 Engine Room Mechanic 4th Class, serving with the Royal Navy who died 28/03/1946.

The headstone reads:

In loving memory of
Our beloved sons
William E. Coombe
accidentally killed March 29th 1946
aged 27 years
and Alfred C. Coombe
who died June 4th 1946
aged 26 years.

William E. Coombe is remembered on our List of Ships’ crews
