William King

In Douchy-les-Ayette British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 196211 Gunner William King, serving with the Royal Field Artillery who died 26/03/1918.

Derek Wombwell states the following:

His home address was 26 Furnace Street, West Hartlepool. His next of kin was his wife Winifred, nee Hooper. They had a daughter, Gladys. Sadly, he never got to meet his child.

The attached photograph of William was given to me by James D. Letz, the son of Gladys. William was my Grandfather’s cousin.

William King is remembered in Hartlepool on H115.24 and H115.30 page 26 and in West Hartlepool on W111.12, W111.54 panel 7 and W111.86 page 22
