In Sande in Vestfold Cemetery, Norway, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1686191 Sergeant (Pilot) Raymond Poole, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 28/12/1944.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt Poole was the Second Pilot on Short Stirling IV LJ970 QS-S of 620 Squadron, which was lost on an S.O.E. Special Duties flight to Norway. It was shot down by a Luftwaffe night fighter near Sande with the loss of all seven crew.

He is remembered in Aykley Heads on A41.02, in West Hartlepool on W111.55 and 1939-1945 Military and Civilian Names
