He resided at 26 Studley Street, West Hartlepool.
Prior to the outbreak of the war he had served the North East Railway Company for 2½ years, where he was employed as a wagon repairer at West Hartlepool.
His service with the 26th Field Company R.E. Royal Engineers extended over three years with the Colours and upwards of three years in the Reserve. He was 28 years of age and leaves behind a widow.
