The Northerner, Vol. XVII no. 02/04/1918 page 2 carries the following:
Young, Cyril R.M., Major, R.G.A., eldest son of Dr. and Mrs. Moffat Young, of West Hartlepool, has died from wounds received on June 7th, when a shell struck his billet, and fragments caused severe injuries to his left shoulder and thigh. Another officer to whom the Major was speaking was killed, as well as four men. Major Young, who was 31 years of age, was educated at Repton and Loretto, and took his degree at Armstrong College, Newcastle-on-Tyne (B.Sc., 1907). Before the war he was in partnership with Mr. Hodgkin, of Darlington, as consulting electrical engineer.
