28th October 1944 age 20.

dearly loved only son
of Robert and Annie Reed.

Sergeant Reed was serving with 1661 Heavy Conversion Unit (HCU). He was a crew member of Stirling III EE907 –X which took off from Winthorpe on a night training exercise which involved flying home with one engine switched off. The weather at Winthorpe caused a diversion to Swinderby, during which the other engines switched off. The aircraft crashed near Norton Disney. Three crew members died and five were injured.
