HARTLEPOOL

Draper, H.T., Stkr., 1914
On the Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of 1901S Stoker Harry Thomas Draper, serving with the Royal Naval Reserve who died 15/10/1914.

Harry Thomas was the son of George Draper of 32 Faulder Road, Long Hill, near Hartlepool.

He was lost on board the H.M.S. "Hawke" when it was torpedoed in the North Sea on the 15th October 1915, by U Boat U-9, commanded by Otto Weddigen, between Peterhead and the Naze. Total 526 casualties.
