The son of Thomas and Catherine Hilton of 65 Wouldhave Street, South Shields. He was employed at Messrs Brighams and Cowans dock. An Estimate Clerk he was Initiated on the 6th October 1914; Passed 5th January 1915 and Raised on the 2nd February 1915.
Fawcett Hilton was killed in action at the Battle of the Somme on the 3rd July 1916 aged 27, and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France Pier & Face 1C
Fawcett Hilton is named on the Roll of Honour in Freemasons’ Hall in London County Durham Notes
He is also named on the Scout Roll of Honour as having founded South Shields Congregational Boy Scouts in 1909.
