George Henry Elsy was a coachman. He died from Influenza at home.

He was in the 11th Battalion Durham Light Infantry and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Henry Elsy husband of Henrietta Elsy, of 36, Edith Street, South Shields.

His sister from North Shields was with him when he died at home, she registered his death. There were two other relative of the same surname who died within weeks of each other, one is a child and the other was a older man. They were all directly related.

The Service Number shown on the CWGC headstone has been over painted incorrectly. It was incised originally with 31767, over painted reads 35767 - James Pasby
