"Soldier found drowned.
The body of a soldier fully dressed was found yesterday, wedged amongst some rocks at the foot of the Trow Rocks cliff, South Shields, having apparently been left by the tide. The remains were removed to the mortuary at The Lawe, where they were identified last night as those of Private W. Palmer, aged about 45 years, who belonged to a home service battalion stationed at Newcastle.
