Robert Robson Nessworthy was born at South Shields at 45, Wellington Street, South Shields, 13th May 1893, son of the late Robert Nessworthy, and Mary Ellen Nessworthy, [born 25th November 1872, South Shields, died the 24th September 1933 at North Shields, Northumberland], he was christened 13th August 1893 at St Hilda's Church, South Shields.
By 1911, he had moved to 528 John Williamson Street, South Shields, as a boarder and was employed as a Driver for a Milk Cart.
Robert married 19th January 1914, in a Register Office, Mary Wilson, 10 Jackson Street, daughter of Richard Wilson a Blacksmith for the N.E.R. based at York.
Robert at this time was based at The Barracks, Fulford, York.
He had enlisted at Sunderland, and was in the 1st Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment.
He was killed in action on Tuesday, 20th October 1914.
