William Maxwell was born in Carlisle. He had enlisted in South Shields. He was formerly in the 3rd D.L.I., Service Number 311796, but was transferred to the 309496, Labour Corps, after being wounded. He died at home.

William Maxwell is remembered at South Shields S86.021
