In the Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeufs is the Commonwealth War Grave of 36481 Acting Serjeant William Rowe serving with "A" Battery, 92nd Brigade Royal Field Artillery who died 10/10/1916.

William was the son of William and Ellen Rowe, of 15, Alnwick Road, Tyne Dock, South Shields.

He attended the Hudson Street United Methodist church, which was then located next to the now demolished Post Office.

Prior to the War he was a second mate at sea.

He is remembered in Harton on H104.03 at South Shields on S86.051 and S86.148
