In the Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeufs is the Commonwealth War Grave of 20089 Private George Frederick Law, serving with the 26th Battalion (Bankers) Royal Fusiliers who died 18/09/1916.

He was born 4th February 1896 and was the son of Thomas William Law a plumber, and his wife Hannah Mary Law.

They resided originally at Dacre Street, then moved to 159 Stanhope Road South Shields by 1911.

He was a pupil at the Westoe Boys School and left school 8th July 1911.

George Frederick Law was a bank clerk with the National Provincial Bank at Sunderland.

He enlisted in 1914, and on the 1st December 1915 he was attached to the Royal Fusiliers. He had been in France since May 1915.

He is remembered at Harton on H104.03
