In La Laiterie Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2350 Sergeant Alexander Bruce, serving with the 1/7th Battalion Durham Light Infantry (Pioneers) who died 07/07/1916.

He was the son of Jacob and Margaret I. Bruce, of 6, Blagdon Avenue, South Shields.

He was an assistant School Master at Cone Street School in South Shields.

He was killed in action on the 7th July 1916. Aged 25.
