On the Chatham Naval memorial is the name of 1320SD Deck Hand James Nicholson Lambie, serving with the Royal Naval Reserve who died 31/10/1915.

Peter Hoy has submitted the following:

Deck Hand James Nicholson Lambie, was the sixth son of John W. and Mary B. Lambie of 170 Fort Street, South Shields.

Brothers: David Lambie (fourth son) – 4th (Northumbrian) Howitzer Battery RFA; John Lambie (fifth son) – 1st/7th Bn. DLI; Benjamin Lambie (Royal Navy) and David Lambie.

James's birth was registered in South Shields (September quarter 1897).

He was awarded the 1914-5 Star. He is believed to have drowned

H. M. Yacht Aries, auxiliary patrol, was mined and sunk in the Dover Straits.

He is remembered at South Shields on S86.126 and S86.143 and on our List of Ships’ crews
