On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/73 Leading Seaman T.L. Nicholson, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Leading Seaman Thomas Lundy Nicholson, 2nd Platoon ‘A’ Company Collingwood Bn. Royal Naval Division, (TZ/73 (R.N.V.R.), killed in action 4th June 1915 (Third Battle of Krithia), aged 24.

Son of Mrs. Jane A. Nicholson of 81 Henry Street, South Shields. He was born in South Shields on 25 December 1890. Occupation: A Shipping Ironmonger who worked for Messrs. Frasers, Ship Stores Merchants, North Shields Unmarried. He was awarded the 1914-5 Star. He enlisted on the 10th September 1914 and served in the Collingwood Battalion from 4th February 1915 to 4th June 1915.

Sister: Mrs. Hume of 29 George Scott Street, South Shields. Remembered on the South Shields’ Library Roll of Honour.

He is remembered at South Shields on S86.143
