Thomas Foster Magee one of eight children, was born in South Shields in 1893. His parents were Michael (a locomotive engine-driver working for the N.E.R. Company) and Mary Jane Magee (nee Dodds) of 12 Wenlock Road, Simonside, South Shields. Both born in Hetton-le-Hole in 1850. They had been married for 39 years in 1911.
He was employed at Boldon Colliery as a Labourer (above ground).
Thomas had originally enlisted in the 3rd Battalion (Tyneside Scottish) with the serial number of 22/943. Whilst in the Tyneside Scottish he had served in the Machine gun section. He died of wounds on the 27th April 1918, then aged 24, after being transferred to the 12/13th Northumberland Fusiliers.
